In addition to the awards specifically for members of the Monroe County Farm Bureau, there are also awards given by the New York Farm Bureau.

NYFB Young Farmers & Ranchers Achievement Award
This award highlights young Farm Bureau members’ efforts in production agriculture and leadership achievement.

Participants are involved in production agriculture with a majority of their income subject to normal production risks.

Competitors are judged on their farm operation and growth, the financial progress of their operation and their Farm Bureau and community leadership.

Rules for Applicants
  • An applicant can be either an individual or a couple that is married or has spousal-equivalent or similar legal rights under the law applicable to NY.
  • Applicant may choose to apply individually, rather than as a couple.
  • Applicant(s) must be a Farm Bureau Member between the ages of 18-35.
  • The individual or spouse/spousal-equivalent shall not have reached his/her 36th birthday by 1/31.
  • Co-applicants must meet age requirements.
  • Applicant(s) must be actively engaged in farming, with the majority of his/her income coming from production agriculture.
  • Previous state winners are ineligible.
NYFB Young Farmers & Ranchers Excellence Award
This award is designed for young farmers and ranchers to earn recognition, while actively contributing and growing though their involvement in Farm Bureau and agriculture.

Participants will be judged on their involvement in agriculture, leadership ability, and participation/involvement in Farm Bureau and other organizations (i.e., civic, service and community).

Competitors are evaluated on their understanding of agricultural issues, leadership experiences and achievement.

  • An applicant can be either an individual or a couple that is married or has spousal-equivalent or similar legal rights under the law applicable to NY.
  • Applicant may choose to apply individually, rather than as a couple.
  • Applicant(s) must be a Farm Bureau Member between the ages of 18-35.
  • The individual or spouse/spousal-equivalent shall not have reached his/her 36th birthday by 1/31.
  • Co-applicants must meet age requirements.
  • Applicant(s) must not have derived a majority of his/her income coming from an owned production agriculture enterprise in any of the past three years.
  • Previous state winners are ineligible.
